The 8 Pieces of Brocade is a Medical Qigong protocol used around the world to restore and maintain health. The centuries-old movements are also known as Baduanjin Qigong, the Eight Silken Movements, and 3-hearts and 9-gates. According to the legend, a famous 12th-century Chinese general named Yue Fei used these movements to keep his soldiers strong and help them heal from injuries.
A seated set of 8 postures also exists, but the focus of this 45-min workshop will be the 8 standing postures. The movements are designed to increase energy and improve strength, balance, joint health, and flexibility. We will focus on the correct alignment for each posture and associated breathwork.
The movements can be done at different levels and are therefore suitable for people with a wide range of physical abilities.
No prior experience needed. Well suited for beginners.
